FIELD TRIP OPTIONS
Could include these ideas for the various days.They will depend on funding, availability of buses and transport options, field trip leaders and interest from participants.
- Visit to a SA primary school that has a program in ‘Education for sustainability’ in place
- Bus trip to the Adelaide hills and some suburbs to show examples of sustainable housing projects
- Aboriginal people and Sustainability- visit to the SA Museum with an education guide
- Adelaide’s Urban Ecology development - Christie Walk – Sturt Street
- Programs for homeless people in Adelaide with some emphasis on what some schools are doing in their service work
- Examples of schools community service – social justice outreach programs
- Global Literature Walk in the Botanic Gardens with Guides who will focus on examples of botanical plants and trees mentioned in novels and stories with global themes - reading the passage from books and then showing the plants
- Visit to the Adelaide Mosque – (1888) the oldest mosque in Australia, Buddhist temple, Synagogue and other religious institutions.
- Salisbury wetlands where storm water is pumped into aquifers and then recycled/ or Urrbrae wetlands
- Visit to Ayan’s cooking class for Sudanese Men - see www.vidafilms.com.au
Fieldtrips on Saturday could be half day - of 4 hours duration. The field trips on Friday will be shorter - 2 hours 15minutes and on Sunday 1hour 30 mins.
PRE OR POST CONFERENCE TOURS
These may be arranged if there is interest from interstate or overseas participants. Ideas include:- Barossa Valley wine trip – day trip
- Kangaroo Island nature trip – overnight
- Victor Harbour and coastal - day trip

- The Biennial Adelaide Festival of Arts runs from 26th February to 14th March.
- The Adelaide Festival Fringe program starts of Friday 19th February – 14th March. The opening parade will be on Friday 19th.
